Timothy Gowers was an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, where he also did his Ph.D. under the supervision of Béla Bollobás. His main research interest is combinatorics, particularly those parts that lie at the interface with other areas of mathematics. He is a Royal Society Research Professor, and holds this position at the University of Cambridge.

Oliver Janzer grew up in Budapest, Hungary. He obtained his Bachelor and Masters degrees at the University of Cambridge, where he is currently a Ph.D. student of Timothy Gowers. His main research interests are extremal graph theory and additive combinatorics.
